Peter chose to believe in Jesus. He asked Jesus if he could come to Him, and he really did walk on the water. But when he began to pay more attention to what was happening around him, “the wind boisterous,” he began to sink.

What are the winds boisterous in our lives? What are the things that distract us from the Savior, that turn our hearts and our minds away from Him? It may be thinking more about pleasing our friends or other people than we do about pleasing God (see John 5:44). It may be the loud and confusing voices we hear on TV, in videos, in music. Sometimes we just don’t care. Our hearts are hard (see John 12:37). There will always be distractions, winds boisterous, but if we choose to turn to the Lord, to believe in Him, to follow Him, we can increase our faith.

When Peter began to sink, he turned to the Lord and cried out, “Lord, save me,” and Jesus immediately “stretched forth his hand, and caught him.” He will do that for you. He will do that for each one of us.

What can we do to turn to the Savior? What can we do to increase our faith in Him? There are many things we can do. I have chosen just three:

• We can choose to believe.
• We can ask for help, then listen.
• We can practice turning to Him.

We talked about love today because it is almost Valentine's Day

The hearts are ways we see Jesus loves us.

Matthew 7

8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?

10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?

11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

Nichelle told the kids they had no chocolate cake mix so they could not make chocolate cake.  She then made this one from scratch saying if mom just being mom can figure out how to give you what you want...God can give you even better.

This weeks goal:  Memorize John 3:16

5 Things to Help Us Drink Daily From The Living Water

John 4:13-14 
13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him awell of water springing up into everlasting life.

"May I suggest five beginning, essential measures that will greatly clear the channel for a daily flow of 'living water' from the very source of the spring (see John 4:7-15).
"First, a daily communion involving prayer. A fervent, sincere prayer is a two-way communication that will do much to bring the Spirit flowing like healing water to help with the trials, hardships, aches, and pains we all face. What is the quality of our secret prayers? As we pray, we should think of our Heavenly Father as being close by full of knowledge, understanding, love, and compassion the essence of power and having great expectations of each of us.
"Second, a daily selfless service to another. The followers of the divine Christ have to be weighed on the scales of what their actions are rather than on solemn professions of belief. The true measure is found in Matthew: 'Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these...ye have done it unto me' (Matt. 25:40). A wise man observed, 'The man who lives by himself and for himself is apt to be corrupted by the company he keeps' (Charles Henry Parkhurst, quoted in The International Dictionary of Thoughts 1969, 659).
"Third, a daily striving for an increased obedience and perfection in our lives. 'What manner of men ought ye to be? Verily I say unto you, even as I am,' said the Savior (3 Ne. 27:27). Because of the perfect Atonement of Jesus, we may be made perfect (see D&C 76:69).
"Fourth, a daily acknowledgment of His divinity. To have a daily, personal relationship with the Master, we must be His disciples. 'For how knoweth a man the master whom he has not served, and who is a stranger unto him, and is far from the thoughts and intents of his heart?' (Mosiah 5:13).
"Fifth, a daily study of the scriptures. President Spencer W. Kimball said: 'I find that when I get casual in my relationships with divinity and when it seems that no divine ear is listening and no divine voice is speaking, that I am far, far away. If I immerse myself in the scriptures the distance narrows and the spirituality returns' (The Teachings of Spencer W. Kimball, ed. Edward L. Kimball 1982, 135)." Such a great night...Facetiming the Grand kids to hear them quote the scripture they memorized.

Luke 1:37 For with God nothing shall be impossible.

They also showed us Jesus' genealogy.

We were able to tell them about some of our ancestors and when they joined the church.  They decided the scripture fit great with the pioneers in our families who left their houses.

They followed up with a fun family activity.
